You might be wondering, Why am I getting this newsletter? or Where’s the unsubscribe button?
Before you tune out or click away, let me share why we started this—and why you’re receiving it.
Asian Americans are at an inflection point. There is a significant cultural shift underway, moving from an immigrant generation to a more Americanized minority generation. As the children and grandchildren of immigrants navigate a fast-changing nation, Asian Americans are discovering who they are—their politics, their status, their culture, their identity, their contribution, and most importantly, their faith.
The elders (figuratively speaking) of this generation have both a profound opportunity and a responsibility to lead. We can passively watch change happen—or we can help shape a gospel-centered future for the emerging generation of Asian Americans.
As a faith leader, I urge you to see this shaping work as part of your calling. This newsletter is an invitation into that calling—and to walk in it together.
What is SOLA Network committed to for churches and leaders?
1. Strengthening Churches and Leaders
Shaping a gospel future requires healthy churches, and healthy churches require healthy leaders. One of SOLA’s core commitments is to strengthen both—offering accessible, relevant, and contextualized support. Through regular communication, we’ll connect you with resources such as contextualized content, relevant gatherings, ongoing cohorts, leadership assessments, and more. We want to see both you and your church thrive.
2. Connecting Churches and Leaders
Just as the body of Christ is made up of many members, the Church is composed of many local churches. No single leader or church has all the answers—but every one of us has part of the answer. Some insights will come from those serving in multiethnic or majority-culture churches. Others will arise from those faithfully ministering in immigrant or majority-Asian churches. We believe in the power of unity—especially when we are unified in our vision to reach the next generation.
Whether you’re a vocational pastor or lay leader, a seminarian or seminary professor, an executive pastor or youth director—we want to connect with you. And we want to connect you with others.
3. Amplifying the Voices of Asian American Churches and Leaders
Many Asian American leaders tend to shy away from promoting themselves—often out of humility or cultural hesitation. But as a result, the contributions of the Asian American church are often underdeveloped or unheard. That’s a loss not only for our community, but for the broader Church.
Proverbs 27:2 says, “Let another praise you, and not your own mouth.” At SOLA, we want to amplify the faithful voices shaping the gospel future—not for self-promotion, but for the edification of the Church.
So here’s my invitation: stay connected.
Let us know who you are. Let us walk with you.
Don’t hide the gospel work God is doing through you and your church. And thank you—for your faithfulness, your leadership, and your heart for the next generation.
God bless!
