There are three days in the life of an unbeliever where they’re more receptive to the Gospel than any other. The first would be Easter. The second would be Christmas. The third is during times of crisis and disaster, like the one we are in right now.
But this weekend, with the convergence of Easter and national crisis, we have two of the three biggest opportunities that we have to share the Gospel. I know that many of us are upset or sad that we can’t be meeting together on the greatest day of the calendar year. But this year, we have the broadest audience that we’ve had in our lifetime. We even have the easiest means of getting them because they don’t need to go anywhere. They can tune into a website and hear the greatest message of hope that the world has ever known.
For the last 2000 years, the call and response on Resurrection Sunday morning has not been, “My 401k has risen. It has risen indeed.” It is not, “My investment portfolio has risen, it has risen indeed.” It is not, “My GPA has risen. It has risen indeed.” For 2000 years, the hope of the world has been the call, “Christ is risen,” and then the response, “He is risen indeed.”
This has always been the hope of the world, and it will continue to be. That’s the hope that we need to embrace and we need to amplify.
We have a few days until Resurrection Sunday and an opportunity unlike any other. Let us do whatever we can, through social media and through personal invites to bring people to Christ. Let’s seize these opportunities and allow God to do through our church what we’ve always wanted him to do. This is our time to shine and God is giving us that platform to do so.
