TGIF: Roundup for March 19, 2021

To help explain the frustration and fear currently found within the Asian American community following the shootings in Atlanta, we published Dr. Alexander Jun’s article on How to Practice Passive and Active Love Toward your Asian American Neighbors. Pastor Owen Lee from Christ Central Presbyterian in Centreville, Virginia, and a member of our SOLA Council, was quoted in the Washington Post: “Asians are created in the image of God, worthy of respect and kindness,” he said. “It feels ridiculous that we would even have to articulate that.” And over at FCBC Walnut, Pastor Hanley Liu and I got together on Zoom to discuss Racism, Atlanta, and Asian American Christians. Watch Part 1: Processing and Part 2: Pastoring on YouTube.

One year ago, the World Health Organization declared the novel coronavirus a global pandemic. Here at SOLA Network, we have followed the pandemic with various articles and interviews. Some were connected to Asian America, some were written for the church, and some were deeply personal. Throughout them all, in the midst of a global crisis, we tried to point our readers to Christ. We hope they act as a testimony to his faithfulness as we continue to trust and obey. Find them all in our special roundup article.

Last week, SOLA Network Editor Hannah Chao asked, “What if Church Doesn’t Go Back to Normal?” We went LIVE on Instagram to discuss her new article, give suggestions for reopening, and reflect on changes in the church this past year. Check out our conversation on IGTV, YouTube, Spotify, or Podcasts.

In case you missed it, check out our most recent interviews on Youth, Politics, and Social Media with Russell Moore, The Theology of Ethnic-Specific Churches with Moses Y. Lee, Dr. Andrew Ong, and Dr. Gray Sutanto, and Balancing Our Wisdom Diet in the Internet Age with Brett McCracken.

Our monthly newsletter is scheduled to be sent out next week. Subscribe and receive our most popular articles. Our February issue is available now. If you have an article or link to share, reach me on Twitter or Instagram.
