Although Mariah Carey’s All I Want for Christmas is You has probably dominated your ears this Christmas season with its ubiquity, there are so many wonderful Christmas songs that can bless the rest of your listening this advent season. With a few days left until Christmas, we wanted to share some encouraging songs to add to your playlists to center your heart and soul on Christ’s coming into the world!
The Love Who Saves | Ginny Owens
Ginny Owens’ voice always brings light to the lyrics and stories of her songs. Released just last year, The Love Who Saves is both a gloriously defiant and hopeful song.
When Love Crossed Over (Lyric Video) – Paul Baloche [ Official ]
While this song was originally released ten years ago, its beautiful melodies and lyrics serve as a balm as you worship with your family, during your daily commute, or simply spend time in prayer.
Anything from Shane and Shane is a treat, and this rendition of the beloved carol, O Holy Night, is no exception to that.
Silent Night / It Came Upon A Midnight Clear
Switchfoot…is still making music? Yes! Always creative in their musical arrangements, they add a modern flair to the pair of these classic songs while retaining their original essence.
Kings Kaleidoscope – All Glory Be To Christ
When I heard this song for the first time over ten years ago, I knew it was going to be an instant classic. It still gives me chills and is a song I return to every Chrstimas.
Keith & Kristyn Getty – Joy Has Dawned/Angels We Have Heard On High (Medley/Live)
The Irish instrumentation fits so well with this medley. For those who are new to the Getty duo, this is a good representation of peak Getty Christmas music.
From the Squalor of a Borrowed Stable (Immanuel)
“An oldie but a goodie” as they say. Though I’m not sure how I first came across this song, I’ve kept it close every Christmas.
JJ Heller – Is He Worthy (Official Lyric Video) – Andrew Peterson / Chris Tomlin Cover
I only started listening to JJ Heller this year. Her voice is so angelic for this song that looks forward to Christ’s second coming.
A suggestion from our Technology Manager, Jay Go, our in-house Christian Hip Hop enthusiast. God’s Servant (Brian Davis), a rapper and pastor from Philadelphia, lays out a lyrically rich song that poetically summarizes Jesus’ ministry here on Earth, sampling one of the most famous drum beats from the 1970’s.
